The biggest cut to Lane County government in 25 years is under way.
The county has begun notifying more than 120 workers that they could be laid off or forced into lower-paying jobs by the end of the month, as the county budgets for the coming fiscal year without $47 million in annual federal timber funding. Congress has not yet renewed that money, and the prospects for it are uncertain.
