The Tshwane Metro Council was to bestow the Freedom of the City on Nelson Mandela today.

The official function was to take place at the offices of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund in Johannesburg and relayed to big screens at two venues in Pretoria - the City Hall and Church Square where thousands of people were expected to gather.
