Q. It's been 10 years since my marriage ended.

The divorce judge ordered my husband of 30 years to maintain a $200,000 life insurance policy, with me as the permanent beneficiary.

It recently occurred to me that I haven't seen a payment for that policy for a few years. When I questioned my ex-husband (he's 76 now) about this, he said he cancelled the policy because he had been ill and needed the money for medical care. He figured that if I knew about how sick he was, I wouldn't take him to court.

Like hell I wouldn't.
