Look around, QuickTime VR--you're not the only game in town. A virtual-reality technology called PhotoSphere, from Omniview (423/690-5600), is moving in.

Like QuickTime VR, PhotoSphere lets multimedia and Web designers create navigable panoramas and supports multiple locations--users can jump among locations by clicking on a hot spot.

But while QuickTime VR's vertical field of view is limited to approximately 95 degrees (depending on the lens used to shoot the original scene), PhotoSphere provides a full 180 degrees so you can look straight up or down. It's as if ...
