Metal Technologies suspends gray iron production in West Allis facility.(North America)

Metal Technologies' West Allis, Wis., gray iron casting facility went under a "suspension of production" on Feb. 29 due to a market slowdown, a company official said.

"We thought it was wise to restrict our capacity until the market returns," said Vice President Jeffrey Turner. Production remained suspended at press time, and Turner said estimates on a production restart couldn't be made.

The West Allis facility is an automatic green sand gray iron plant employing 22 salaried and approximately 90 hourly workers. The plant claims 63,000 tons of capacity, producing parts ...
