Recent studies of the Dead Sea Scrolls have highlighted several discrepancies between its translation and anthropological findings on the Jewish sect who left the documents behind. Although several interpretations have been advanced, none have so far been convincing enough to explain the role of the 'sons of Sadoq' and the existence of a 'prayer for the welfare of King Jonathan' and the Qumran community's opposition to the Maccabees.
