A new center offering traditional and alternative treatments for arthritis opened April 7 in Del Mar.

The Institute for Specialized Medicine located at 12865 Pointe Del Mar Way plans to treat between 20 and 40 patients each day, said Dr. Alexander Shikhman, a local doctor who worked for Scripps Health and the center's founder.
