Rome wasn't built in a day, and soon, its building industry won't have the help of The Home Depot.

The nation's largest home-improvement chain says the Rome store is one of 15 Home Depot stores nationwide that are "underperforming," according to the Atlanta-based chain, so it's getting the ax.

Home Depot announced the closings Thursday, giving the Rome store the dubious honor of being one of the only flagship stores ever closed by the company. The stores, selected from a handful of states, will close within the next 60 days. The Rome ...
