Michael Hammon, Auburn's interim fire chief, was getting tired of being known as the "will he" fire chief.

As in, "Will he stay or will he go?"

It now looks like he's going to stay. Hammon learned Thursday that he nailed the second highest score on a civil service test, positioning himself to become Auburn's next permanent fire chief.
