As an 80th birthday tribute to Frank Sinatra wound down, Bruce Springsteen and Tony Bennett approached the guest of honor to escort him onstage.

Bennett took Sinatra's arm to help him up. But Sinatra in a moment pulled out of Bennett's grip. To be sure, after taking a step or two, Sinatra reached out for a hand up onto the stage, but the message had been sent. He still expected to do some things under his own power, in his own way.
