Pres. Bill Clinton stated that the US economy was doing very well, that extreme measures for balancing the federal budget were not necessary and that a prudent plan is more appropriate for the country today. Clinton expressed his willingness to work with Republican lawmakers on the budget issue but stressed that he will not compromise at the expense of his principles.
