ACTE: Tell us about the Committee for Education Funding. How long has it been in operation?
EK: Well, the Committee for Education Funding (CEF) has been around for 39 years. It started out in 1969 and has been a standing coalition across all major sectors of education ever since. We're nonpartisan; we don't get involved in electoral politics. We are an advocacy group that urges Congress and administrations to fully fund education for the success of our students.
