SOUTHBRIDGE - A Casella Waste Systems official's lack of answers about radioactive waste detected two years ago at a transfer station the firm used to run further illustrated uncertainties about accountability, a lawyer for the Sturbridge Board of Health suggested at a hearing Tuesday.

Culling information from newspaper reports, lawyer Nicholas Anastasopoulos asked the landfill official Tuesday night about the Holliston transfer station that Covanta Holding Corp. bought from Casella last year.
