THE commercial relationship between John Smith's and racing was strengthened yesterday with the announcement that the brewer will this year take over sponsorship of the Ayr Gold Cup.
Scotland's richest Flat race, backed by the Tote since 2001, joins a John Smith's portfolio including the Grand National and the Midlands Grand National, as well as a pounds 100,000 Newbury handicap run on the same day as the Ayr Gold Cup.
