U.S. President George W. Bush proposed a $968.5 million budget for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in fiscal-year 2009, a figure that includes plans for a new land-imaging program. The request represents a $38 million decrease from the 2008 funding level.
Agency officials say the proposed budget will continue to highlight research and science priorities that involve mapping and imaging.
