Silk was already in use in Eurasia even before the Han Dynasty. Traces of silk fiber were found in Uzbekistan and in the Scythian burials of Siberia, which date back to the Middle Bronze Age. Early Western textiles could have contained wild silk. Wild tussah silk was used in India and Mongolia during the time when Chinese silk was gaining world popularity.
