THE RNLI's plans to introduce a new class of all-weather lifeboat to replace the aging Mersey Class have suffered a major setback.
During ongoing trials, problems with the design of the hull on the new experimental Fast Carriage Boat 2 (FCB2) lifeboat were identified which will considerably delay its introduction which was scheduled for 2010.
