Connection-level controls and packet-level controls are used in bandwidth allocation and congestion control of asynchronous transfer mode networks in IBM's Networking BroadBand Services architecture. Connection-level controls provide efficient resource allocation while packet-level controls regulates telecommunication traffic in the network.
