WHAT IS IT?

In the 19th century, British potteries produced affordable ceramics for the working class. Lusterware refers to a type of pottery that was hand-decorated with a metallic film, which created an iridescent sheen. Objects were made in shades of copper, silver, gold, pink, and purple and decorated with a variety of motifs. This rare c. 1835 pink lusterware teacup and matching saucer were originally part of a complete tea service from Swansea, Wales. The teacup and saucer are both in good condition and feature a hand-painted floral motif.
