ASTANA, April 24 Asia Pulse - Kazakhstan's ban on wheat exports will not apply to Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz President Kurmankek Bakiyev announced last week.
After returning from a two-day visit to meet with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Bakiyev said that he had been assured that Kyrgyzstan's wheat needs will be met this year.
Two days before Bakiyev's visit, officials in Kazakhstan announced a four-month ban on wheat exports aimed at protecting consumers from the effects of global grain shortages. Kyrgyzstan imports around 20 per cent of its grain from ...
