FRIGOSCANDIA, CARGILL AND EXCEL RECEIVE USDA APPROVAL FOR STEAM PASTEURIZATION OF FRESH BEEF

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved a steam pasteurization process for fresh beef that greatly reduces the risk of E. coli 0157:H7, a pathogen that can cause serious and potentially fatal diseases.

The process was developed by Frigoscandia Equipment Group, an international food processing equipment company, and Cargill, Incorporated, the parent company of Excel Corporation, a leading U.S. meat processor.
