Susan Shabangu, the deputy minister who became a household name with her shoot-to-kill comments, has shrugged off the publicity and continued to advocate a hardline approach to criminals.

In an interview this week, the deputy minister of safety and security said she was not concerned about reactions and claimed that what she'd said was nothing more than established department and ANC policy.
