A perspective of adhesion is offered using average property indices such as dielectric constant, dipole moment, and thermal conductivity. These indices have been derived by comparisons of dielectric theories of adhesion and cohesion with comparisons to experimental data found in the literature. For example, it was found that adhesion generally increases with increased dielectric constant, or with the inverse of the thermal conductivity, for metal substrates. It was also found that ranges in t...

Comparisons of experimental data to indices of adhesion derived from dielectric models.
Polymer Engineering and Science ; INTRODUCTION Mechanical mechanisms due to surface roughness, chain entanglements, and covalent bonds are known to dramatically enhance adhesive forces and form the basis of many adhesion enhancement techniques. However, nonmechanical explanations of adhesion simply describe dielectric mechanisms.
Calculating effective dielectric constant. (No Myths Allowed).(Brief Article)
Printed Circuit Design ; The speed of light in air is 12 inches/ns. The speed of light in a material is slowed down by the dielectric constant of the material. This material property is referred to either by the Greek letter epsilon, [[epsilon].sub.r], or sometimes [D.sub.k]. Dielectric constant is also related to how much
Dielectric constant of Turkish timbers in the longitudinal direction at a 9.8-GHz frequency.
Forest Products Journal ; Abstract Applications of microwave techniques in the wood industry have been developed both for treatment and for diagnostic purposes. All these applications require reliable results of the dielectric constant of the wood species of interest. In this paper, the dielectric constant of the most
A swept measurement for wireless material dielectric constant.(Technical Feature)
Microwave Journal ; Most test methods used to test high frequency material do so at a single frequency. Since most circuits are supposed to operate over a band of frequencies, why shouldn't the material that is such a critical part of the circuits used for high frequency wireless applications be characterized over
Thermosetting polyphenylene ether resin with low dielectric constant
High Performance Plastics ; A thermosetting polyphenylene ether (PPE) which has a low dielectric constant and good resistance to heat and chemicals has been developed by Asahi Chemical Industry Co Ltd of Tokyo, Japan. The resin has a heat resistance of 250degreeC and a dielectric constant of 3.0, much better than that of
Estimating Microstrip Substrate Relative Dielectric Constant
Microwaves & RF ; These equations can be applied to a number of different substrate materials to estimate the relative dielectric constant of circuit boards with microstrip transmission lines. (ProQuest: denotes formulae omitted.) Microstrip lines are commonly used in microwave circuits, although their performance
Radio frequency filter uses ceramic with high dielectric constant
Advanced Ceramics Report ; A filter for radio frequency portable telephones has been developed by the Research Laboratory for Electronic Parts and Devices, part of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd, based in Osaka, Japan. The filter uses a ceramic which has a very high dielectric constant. The precursor materials for the
