The economic outlook for East Germany is bright, five years after the German reunification in 1990. The flourishing of the economy is evident in East Germany's main cities of Dresden, Leipzig, Erfurt, Jena, Postdam and East Berlin. Infrastructures have been rising and business districts exhibit prosperity. A rich middle class is also developing, as inherited real property have transformed citizens into capitalists. Unemployment, however, continues to be a major drawback to its economic development.
