The Stella Adler Studio hosted its fourth annual Stella by Starlight benefit in Gotham Monday, launching the Roy Scheider Scholarship Endowment Fund and honoring Martin Sheen and gossip columnist Liz Smith.

The late Scheider, an Adler alum and board member, was a longtime supporter of the studio's programs aimed at aspiring inner-city thesps who can't afford professional training. Steven Spielberg has already pledged $50,000 to jump-start the fund, which will further enrich ...
