A unique religious book dating back to the 15th century has been purchased by the National Trust for public display, it announced today.
The Trust said it had bought the sole surviving copy of the Sarum Missal, a popular version of the Mass used in pre-Reformation England, printed for William Caxton in Paris in 1487.
The missal was the first book printed in the French capital using two colours and to bear the printer's device of Caxton, England's first printer...
