Confrontation at Lepanto: Christendom vs. Islam. By T. C. E Hopkins. (New York, N.Y.: Tom Doherty Associates, 2006. Pp. 208. $21.95.)

This book, written under a pseudonym by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, who is mostly known for her science-fiction novels, is a novelistic account of the naval battle that took place in 1571 between the Ottoman Empire and the Holy League of Europe. It is a work of popular history that is intended mostly for recreational readers, particularly those who are interested in naval history and in late sixteenth-century European politics.
