Talk about playing your cards right.

In the movie "21," which opens nationwide today, Worcester native Jeffrey Ma gets to be played by the up-and-coming film star Jim Sturgess. Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey and Lawrence Fishburne are in the cast as well.

It's all happening because Ma did play the cards right as part of a "team" of MIT student card counters who won a lot of money at the blackjack tables of Las Vegas casinos in the 1990s. Their exploits were detailed in the 2003 book "Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students ...
