19th century Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's works distinctively reveal strong Shakespearean influences. Historical documents revealed that Ibsen had limited access to Shakespearean literature during his formative and early professional years. The most likely source from which Ibsen gained access to Shakespearean literature was his tour of theaters in Denmark and Germany. The theater tour was sponsored by the Norwegian Theater between 1851-1852 and exposed Ibsen to Shakespeare's 'Hamlet,''King Lear' and 'As You Like It.'
