A Spalding man has warned others about an e-mail scam that is asking Abbey National and Halifax bank account holders for their details.

Alan Coxell, of Inglebury Court, was immediately suspicious of an e-mail which used the Abbey logo and stated that his account billing updates were out of order and must be updated within a certain time or his account would be temporarily suspended.

The e-mail asks recipients to verify their account by giving their online banking details such as user names, passwords and bank account number.
