Following a proposal from the European Commission, the EU is soon expected to ratify the Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment annexed to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention).
