Eugene, in its attempts to define itself, has been a city in search of an identity or a cause. The populace: divided, opinionated, progressive, conservative, liberal, vocal, stubborn, dichotomous and, if anything, continuously involved. For that last part, I love Eugene.
We all appreciate this location on the globe for many reasons; our struggles over potholes, downtown holes and local leadership are well documented. Eugene never misses an opportunity to point out a problem.
