AN UNDOUBTED highlight of this year's rural calendar will be the long-awaited return to North Wales of the Supreme International sheepdog trials.

The three-day event, which represents the pinnacle of the sport in Europe, has not been staged in the region for more than half-a-century - it was last held in North Wales at Llandudno in 1956.
