"Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" has broken box office records in northern France, where the laffer was released a week ahead of its national bow.
Distribber Pathe estimates that the pic took $4.9 million off just 61 screens in six days. The film bowed nationwide Wednesday on 788 prints.
