One by one, they're dropping off the road.

The Pontiac Fiero, Toyota MR2, Corvette ZR-1 nosediving sales in what remains of the market. Two-seat sports cars, especially the high-performance ones, are almost an endangered species these days.

Pick a reason: Price. Insurance. Limited space. Performance being deprioritized. And, of course, the rise of SUVs (sport utility vehicles) to replace sports cars as a release for guys going through a midlife crisis.

Those remaining, those trying to hang tough, include a few real jewels _ the Mazda RX-7, the Acura NS-X and the Nissan 300ZX. ...
