Antonio Gramsci is now considered outdated or, at the very least, his works are no longer viewed as a useful critical tool. A brief survey of critical thoughts on Gramsci presents strategies through which his ideas may be utilized. The survey includes evaluations of both the negative and the positive views. The writers presented are Chris Harman, Norman Geras, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Luigi Lombardi-Satriani, Alberto Lanternari.
