CLASSICAL music fans are so keen to attend the world premiere of composer Karl Jenkins' new work that he had to arrange for extra seats to be installed at the venue.

Stabat Mater - the follow-up to his best-selling composition, Requiem, released in 2005 - will be performed for the first time in Liverpool's Cathedral on March 15.

It is the second in a trilogy of tracks he will release through the EMI label and the 60-minute composition has been described as a "major new piece" for the musician, which took 10 months to create.
