A BUDDING young writer has won a national poetry competition for pupils.
Brodie Smart, 13, who attends Bishop Stopford School in Kettering, has won the secondary individual category for 11 to 19-year-olds in the Nasen national competition.
Her poem 'As I watched' beat more than 360 entries from across the UK and was read out by children's author Pie Corbett at The Education Show at Birmingham NEC earlier this week.
Brodie said: "Being one of the winners made me feel quite good because I always liked writing poems and stories."
