The 'Mutiny on the Bounty' as a novel has been depicted in various other books and movies, three of them being Hollywood productions. The 1935, 1962 and 1984 versions were evaluated based on their treatment of the story as a reflection of the times. The 1935 'Bounty' was said to be lacking in its depiction of the extent of the role played by women to make the mutiny happen. Its main thrust was in showing Bligh's cruelty. Meanwhile, the 1962 version is notable for its explicit treatment of violence and the sexual relations between the ship's crew and the Tahitian women. Only the 1984 film gave ...
