ON NOVEMBER 9 last year, 38-year-old Karen Streeter gave birth atUniversity College Hospital in London to a healthy baby boy following atroublefree, three-hour labour. It was the sixth baby she's given birth to andhis safe arrival was greeted with the usual tears of joy and relief.
Visitors to the maternity ward, however, might have raised their eyebrows alittle. Karen is white, as is her husband of more than 20 years who was presentthroughout the birth. All the other babies she's borne have been white, too.This one was Asian.
