The increasing use of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors in chronic congestive heart failure (CHF) has been attributed to the following reasons: (1) use of ACE inhibitors with diuretics and digitalis has been shown to prolong survival, and (2) use of ACE inhibitors has been shown to result in an improvement in clinical condition. Reyes reviews the use of ACE inhibitors in patients with chronic CHF.
