Minster Louis Farrakhan's call for a Million Man March on Washington DC in Oct 1995 has resonated in black America, and has helped boost the Nation of Islam leader's appeal. Farrakhan hopes African American men will see the march both as a chance for a spiritual reawakening and as a call to action.

When Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan decreed 10 months ago that a million African-American men should come together in the nation's capital for a day of "atonement," New York City's Rev. Al Sharpton asked the obvious question: "Atone for what?"
