Minocycline, an antibiotic and antiprotozoal, appears to protect against stroke damage in humans, according to an Israeli study published in Neurology (October 2, 2007). The antibiotic produced significant neuroprotective effects in earlier studies involving animal models of multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, amyltrophic lateral sclerosis, and stroke.
