NEW YORK - Oscar de la Renta's formula for his new line is a simple one: make clothes that make sense.

The designer's latest effort, a bridge-price collection of dresses and sportswear called Oscar, is slated to make its wholesale debut in January and arrive at retail next June for fall selling.

"I've wanted to do this type of line for a long time," said de la Renta in an interview at his offices at 550 Seventh Ave. "It's very important to get into this market. It will allow me to reach a wider range of consumers than I'm reaching now.
