The many articles about rap music that have appeared in journals have largely ignored rap's aesthetic aspect, or the qualities that make rap music good music. The dearth of articles on the aesthetics of rap is an indication of the misconception that rap music is not worthy of serious, learned discussion. However, those who truly understand what rap is considers it as a true art form in the likes of jazz, classical, rhythm and blues and rock and roll.
