Jazz artist John Coltrane's music is increasingly being used in films by noted directors such as Spike Lee and Oliver Stone. This renewed interest in Coltrane can be attributed to the social and aesthetic concerns addressed by Coltrane in his compositions. Coltrane's influence over the more adventuresome rock singers of the 1960s is seen in Stone's film 'The Doors' and in Lee's 'Mo' Better Blues.'
Can it be merely accidental that recent works by such otherwise dissimilar film makers ...
