I would like to respond to the folks who have been fighting those nasty chigger bites. There are lots of bad remedies out there for them, like the friend who told me to put bleach on the bites, forgetting the additional advice to dilute it with water first. Fortunately I was standing next to a river when I poured it onto my skin. I dove into the water and kept swimming until the sting went away.
