The use of remote sensing data in watershed research.(Special Issue: Water Research and Management in Semiarid Environments)

Remote sensing is suggested as a tool for aggregating the dynamic behavior of hydrologic processes at different space and time scales and when there is a great degree of natural heterogeneity. It is shown that remote sensing is the only method for generating not only spatially distributed data but also for measuring hydrologic variables such as surface soil moisture, snow water content and surface temperature.
