The 'Social Science Quarterly' journal surveyed 170 academic journals to determine their policies on replication in research. Results show the absence of standard policies covering replication. The 'Medicine' journal however, conducts random checks on the references used by contributors. Scientific journals also require authors to disclose any conflicts that may jeopardize the integrity of the evaluation or authoring process.
