After an absence of nearly a decade, the great German empress of NeoExpressionism returned to Los Angeles with the North American premiere of her 2004 extravaganza Ten Chi. Translated as "heaven and earth," the nearly three-hour plotless opus continues Bausch's dreamlike explorations of foreign environments that have included Turkey, Italy, Portugal--and now, Japan.
